Ave maris stella
I wrote this piece in 2014 for myself and my siblings. Unfortunately we haven't had the opportunity to perform it yet. The recording comes from a small group from the Rhineland-Palatinate Youth Choir, who sang the piece in the summer of 2014.
The special thing about this piece is that it contains an extraordinary number of time changes, all of which are based on the text and its emphases and therefore give the piece a special pulse that is irregular but very organic.
The recurring theme is set very tightly and the fact that the bass rarely sings the fundamental tone gives the piece its slightly floating character.
